Bavarian Conservation Union visited CLCP
As part of an excursion through Romania, members of the Bavarian Conservation Union (Bund Naturschutz in Bayern) visited the project on September 20th. Christoph Promberger took the group of 31 people, amongst them the probable new Director Hubert Weiger, on a 5 hour hike through the mountains. We found tracks of bears, heard red deer stags roaring and had some interesting discussions to compare the hunting system in Bavaria, where large carnivores are absent and hunting has big difficulties to keep ungulates from overbrowsing of the natural regeneration, with a hunting system in the Carpathians, where wolves and lynx influence deer.
